| Chicago! Here I come! |
[Jul. 24th, 2008|12:00 pm] |
So I will be visiting Chicago from July 31st through August 5th. This will be my second visit (and I thoroughly enjoyed my last one). The people I'm travelling with will be attending Lollapalooza for the majority of the weekend, but I have decided to spend my time exploring the city and seeing the sights!
Any of the fabulous people of Chicago that I met last year (all of whom I need to get to know better) interested in hanging out/showing me around/meeting for a meal? I was thinking of visiting the Art Institute on Friday. Otherwise the weekend has no set plans. |

| Fuck... I'm getting sick |
[Feb. 17th, 2008|11:59 am] |
Fuck. If you're on vacation in a beautiful and vibrant city, you should automatically be immune to viruses and bacteria! Woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and a cough. Fuck.
On a better note: Had a great time yesterday!
Did some shopping in the morning and early afternoon. Macy's had some FABulous deals! Got me a sweater for $10! Squee! Ate lunch/breakfast at a small little diner called Andrews. Tasty food for cheap!
I LOVE Broadway! |

| NYC! |
[Feb. 16th, 2008|12:21 am] |
So I am finally going to try and actually do something about the lack of posting of late.
Thursday, I finally arrived in NYC after my slight detour through Philadelphia, which though I am sure is a lovely city, has a very uninteresting airport in which to spend 2 and a half hours. Spent the first evening at the gloriously overpriced New York Hilton Hotel (which has a VERY comfortable bed, thank you very much). John took me to my first party in a genuine NYC loft. It was filled with TV people, but I had an excellent time (the punch certainly helped).
Today was spent repacking all of our baggage and transporting it to our new hotel: The Marriott Marquis located in the heart of Times Square! Lunch was TGIFridays... and dinner was Sbarro. Not the best food in NY, but it was convenient. Managed to do a bit of shopping and bought my niece a gift for her birthday from the M&Ms store. The evening was by far the highlight of the day. John and I made our way to a performance of Spring Awakening. It was so amazing to be able to sit in a theatre and be completely engrossed again. I need more theatre in my life! MacDuff will be proud of me, I purchased a souvenir from the hardworking merchandise vendors.
After the show I sampled a slice of cheesecake from Junior's (which I thoroughly enjoyed.... diet be damned!).
Tomorrow is for shopping! President's Day Sales... Whoo! Oh, and the plan for the evening involves more theatre (Xanadu) and a trip to Marie's Crisis for drinks and entertainment. |

| Birthdays 'R' Us |

| | happy | ] | Yesterday was jprtoronto's birthday. We had a grand ole time. Started by sleeping in. It's really nice having a mid-week day off! Then we high-tailed it down to the Scotiabank Theatre to see Michael Bay's blockbuster The Transformers. If only the slogan were true and there was more to the movie than met the eye.... Next we saw Disney/Pixar's Ratatouille. This one was lots of fun. There was even a short before the movie, which made for a nice touch! After watching a rat cook delicious food in France, we decided to go low-brow for dinner and hit McDonald's (possibly extending the rat theme?) Our stomachs now gorged on greasy fast food, we ambled to the Varsity for a V.I.P. screening of Hairspray! Whoo! Definitely the best movie I saw all day. Lots of fun and great songs. Plus, trying to recognize Toronto streets masquerading as Baltimore! What better way to spend a day? |

| Long time no post... |

It's been a while, so I figured I should type something in here as opposed to just reading what everyone else has to say.
Saw Ocean's 13 last night with a good friend. It's really a lot of fun watching a movie that is set in a place you have actually visited before and where you can sit there and identify a great deal of the places the cast is walking through.
I caved and bought the new Harry Potter book yesterday, too. It's not like I didn't know it was going to happen, but I didn't really need to rush out and get it in the first week.
Went out to O'Grady's for drinks on Friday. Ran into some friends I haven't hung out with in too long. Had a great time.
Headed out to the Island last Monday for a day at the beach and walking around Center Island with the incomparable jprtoronto. Fun times.
Working this weekend while John is in Ottawa helping friends participate in the City Chase there, and generally having a good time.
Seeing a concert on Monday night and then camping next weekend at Bon Echo. Should be fun! |

| Big Gay Concert |
[Jun. 20th, 2007|10:50 am] |
So yesterday was the "Big Gay Concert" (or the True Colors Tour). Got to see Erasure, Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, The Kliks, The Gossip and the Dresden Dolls.
The concert was amazing. Erasure was fantastic! Even more fantastic, though, was spending time with jprtoronto, and our friends. Much dancing was done and everyone had a good time.
Next up is the City Chase. For some reason, there is doubt that Randy and I are going to beat the pants off of John & Jon, and Jamie & Jeff.
Be prepared for the walk of shame, guys!

Last night, jprtoronto and I explored the city by following one of the City of Toronto's "Discovery Walks." We had a fantastic time walking around areas we both knew and discovering hidden gardens and parks with modern sculptures. Our walk took us from the ROM down along the Philosopher's Walk, through Queen's Park and St. Michael's University, past the Police Headquarters and College Park, through Ryerson University and Allan Gardens, Cawthra Square Park and through Norman Jewison Park and George Hislop Park before finally ending up back where we started by way of the Rock garden/fountain/park on Cumberland ave.
Following the walk, we went for dinner at Pizza Hut. Yummy and filling, but we've both decided that we can only take Pizza Hut in infrequent doses.
Tonight is Zombie Movie Night. We are watching 28 Weeks Later this evening. I am hoping that jonintoronto will turn into a zombie before my eyes! |

| | sleepy | ] | Attended a performance of Evil Dead: The Musical last night. It was loads of fun. We sat in the splatter section at the front of the audience right near the stage hoping to walk away from the show all bloody and like. Well I, at least, succeeded in this. At the point in the show where the audience starts becoming "splattered" I basically had a bucketful of "blood" thrown on me! Between myself and our friend Wayne, we bore the brunt of the bloodiness. It really was quite a fun musical, too. Best song ever: "What the F*%^ was That?" |

| Improv Theatre |
[May. 5th, 2007|07:22 am] |
Last night I went to see some Improv Theatre with jprtorontoand others at the Bad Dog Theatre. Had lots of fun. These people have loads of talent and wit. The people I was with also knew some of the cast members so I got to meet a few of them before and after the show, which was neat. |

Last night I went to a get together at an old friend's house. It was fantastic! Got to reconnect with some people I haven't seen in more than 10 years and meet a couple of great guys as well. There was good conversation, lots of catching up and the requisite playing of video games. I must say, Wii is quite fun! (And I rock at Guitar Hero -- 100% at Medium! Whoo!) |
